NWI Works delivers results through a simple, proven model:

Succeed
We connect participants directly to jobs and support them in building long-term careers

This “Engage, Prepare, Connect” approach ensures individuals move efficiently from interest to employment.

NWI Works Overview

  • We envision a Northwest Indiana where every resident has access to a clear path to a family-sustaining career—and where employers have a reliable pipeline of skilled, job-ready talent.

Our mission is to connect individuals to in-demand careers, strengthen the regional workforce, and create pathways to economic mobility for all eager job seekers.

  • At the center of our work is the Opportunity Hub at Elston—a transformative, 300,000+ square foot facility in Michigan City designed as a single front door to opportunity.

    The Hub brings together:

    • Workforce training and career services

    • Employer partnerships and hiring pipelines

    • Education and certification programs

    • Wraparound supports like childcare, transportation, and coaching

This integrated model eliminates barriers and creates faster, more effective pathways to employment.

We are working on other hub locations in Northwest Indiana.

  • We are a backbone organization that integrates place , process, and partners to achieve the following:

    1. Employer-Aligned Training: Programs are designed with employers to ensure participants gain skills that lead directly to jobs.

    2. Accelerated Pathways

Through programs like Fast Track to Top Jobs, individuals can become job-ready in weeks—not years—combining soft skills, technical training, and real-world experience.

    3. Hands-On Learning

Training includes real labs, simulations, and work-based learning experiences across sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, technology, and hospitality.

    4. Wraparound Community Support

We address barriers to success with services like transportation assistance, coaching, and ongoing support—ensuring participants can complete training and stay employed.

    5. A True Ecosystem

NWI Works brings together education providers, employers, nonprofits, and community organizations into one coordinated system—reducing duplication and improving outcomes.

  • NWI Works operates through strong collaboration with regional partners, including:

    • Employers across key industries

    • Education providers like Ivy Tech and Purdue Northwest

    • Workforce organizations and nonprofits

    • Healthcare providers and community-based organizations

This partnership-driven model ensures alignment with real workforce needs and long-term sustainability.

  • Too many individuals face barriers to employment without a clear path forward. At the same time, employers struggle to find skilled workers.

NWI Works bridges that gap—creating opportunity for individuals while strengthening the regional economy.
